How I met Mountain Man

It all started with this guy...my best friend Austin Mischa...

We were hanging on the beach one day in Carnelian Bay, then he sniffed out this guy.....June 2015

This is Mountain Man. He's a great guy. Upon our first meeting we discussed our love for the mountains, our mutual interest in physical therapy, and even life goals. I even predicted his personality type  (similar to mine) because of how easy it was to talk to him. I asked for his number.

Although he moved to Colorado for a summer/fall job we still kept in touch. After a few months, I was starting to wonder whether he would return. When he told me his plans were to stay there, I started to lose touch, thinking he wouldn't return.

Until one day he called to tell me he was coming back to Sacramento. He couldn't find work. He asked to see me, and I invited him to visit me and my other dog friend Z. They hit it off.

As did we. That week he asked if I was dating anyone else. I told him that he was at the top of my list. I sang him The Beatles and cooked yummy food for us. Then we had our first "date" as a couple.

And that was in December of 2015. Little did I know that we weren't going to be official until I passed the ultimate test... hanging with his homies...

And surviving the ski trip. I think pictures can tell you better in words the outcome of the test :)

 Then the ski trips continued...

Smelling the Flowers
Life is about loving.
Life is about laughing.
Life is about learning.
Learning who you are.
Connecting the dots.
Making a complete circle.
And your life is over once that circle is complete.
But don’t worry, life will take you in many twists and turns.
Roads that take you off that path to complete that circle.
Roads that will distract you from your goal.
Roads that will disillusion you to make it seem like the right road, yet all it does is take you further away.
But that’s okay.
Because every failure is only a lesson learned.
Some people learn faster than others.
Some people catch on more quickly.
Some people know what road they need to be on, at what time, down to the very minute.
But is that necessarily the best thing?
To stay on that paved road, to time every second, and to know your future?
I guess that depends on the person.
Some like knowing where to go, what time they need to be there, who to follow.
But do they know WHY?
Or are they just following the footsteps of someone who has made that path before?
Do YOU want to live your life in the footsteps of someone else?
Or would you rather go on the pass less traveled, making your own road?
There are 6 billion people in this world, so it’s hard to find that less traveled path.
It might be hidden in the bushes, buried under the sand, or covered by water, but it’s there.
We are innovators, creators, imaginators, a new generation.
A generation of heroes, fighters, and survivors.
A newly globalized, technologized, and fast paced moving society.
I’m quite positive that we can find a way.
So let us take the mistakes of the past and learn from them.
And let us take the gift of the present to live in the present, to dwell on the feelings and emotions that are right here, right now, in THIS moment.
And let us take these feelings of the moment and hold on to them tight, because soon enough they shall be in the past and only a semantic memory.
Because one cannot move forward until one has fully understood the meaning of past and present.
So for all you people, who time every second of the day, what are you rushing for?
Why are you going so fast?
How can you move into the future if you don’t take the time to enjoy the present?
Are you trying to be the Rabbit who is always glancing at his watch, and is always late for that very important date?
After all, wasn’t the rabbit the one who distracted Alice from her journey?
And didn’t he end up in that rabbit-hole after all?
Do you really want to complete that circle as soon as possible?
I don’t know about you, but I would rather take the longer way, the scenic route.
And MY OWN scenic route.
Even though it might take me longer, I will have the privilege to call it MY OWN.
So how does one live a life to the fullest potential, you ask?
Everyone goes to the beat of their own drum.
But as I recall in the fairytale of the hare and the tortoise,
Slow and steady wins the race.
Thats the point, HAVE FUN.
